Our dear friend, Speedy Gonzalez, was a victim of a hit and run on May 13, 2010. Many people reading this knew him or knew of him. I’m sure you would all agree that there was no one with more passion, intensity or love of animals.
Speedy always wanted everyone to breed everything! It didn’t matter if it was tarantulas, mice or chondros, Speedy was all about breeding. His chondros (green tree pythons) were his pride and joy.
Because I run a rescue, I don’t see a lot of baby animals. One time Speedy gave me a couple baby turtles just because he wanted me to experience the “joy of raising up some babies.” I think he gave away as many animals as he sold. Speedy would do anything for a friend.
If you know Speedy, I’m sure you have experienced the in-your-face intensity that is unforgettable. His excitement over animals breeding, laying eggs, eggs hatching or just watching babies grow was something that Speedy talked about all of the time.
Speedy’s family has graciously asked that if people want to make donations, they should be made to our rescue. Speedy generously provided us with rodents for the past several years. He also helped by donating other things as well as his time. He was truly a great friend to the organization and to me personally.
I find it impossible to believe that I’ll never hear his cheerful voice or see his infectious smile again.
If you would like to make a donation in memory of Speedy, you can mail it to Charm City Reptile Rescue, P. O. Box 65012, Baltimore, MD 21209 . Your donations are greatly appreciated.
